Burlington Board of Health is now offering the Prevnar 13 Pneumonia Vaccine to residents of Burlington ages 65 and older.
The Prevnar 13 pneumonia vaccine is recommended for all adults 65 years or older.
According to the CDC, “each year in the United States, about 18,000 adults 65 years or older die and thousands more end up in the hospital because of pneumococcal disease. The best way to prevent pneumococcal disease is by getting vaccinated.”
The Burlington Board of Health is offering the vaccine, regardless of insurance status, by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call Sylvia Musoke, supervising nurse, at 781-505-1139. A brief screening will be conducted over the phone to provide information and determine eligibility.
