Career experience

Professional singer - 1990-present; Voice teacher - 1992-present; Conductor - present; Music educator - 2006-present. I have travelled extensively as a singer with the Handel and Haydn Society and Boston Baroque and participated in 11 internationally released recordings.

Why did you choose this career?

This career "happened" rather than was chosen. I set out to be an operatic singer, but was also trained as a percussionist. Conducting was something I was interested in from an early age. After singing professionally for over 15 years, I was offered an adjunct conducting position at UMASS Lowell. From there, I was hired to lead a community chorus in Melrose, MA - Polymnia Choral Society. That led to teaching in at the secondary level and for the last four years, I was the director of choirs at Middleborough High School. I always taught voice along the way, but gradually was able to use this training to lead choruses successfully.

What is your favorite part of teaching music?

There is no end to the learning! Literally, millions of pieces of music have been created and can now be accessed through the Internet and other means. If I performed 10 pieces of music each day for the next 100 years, I would still only have barely scratched the surface of what is available. Also, music can change minds and hearts. Music heals, helps us grow, helps us learn, gives us empathy.

I am very excited to be here at OA and serving the community of Easton.
